AxiaCoco was built on two powerful foundations, generations of agricultural heritage and decades of engineering excellence.
For generations, the Senarath family cultivated the fertile lands of Sri Lanka’s Coconut Triangle, growing coconut, rice, pineapple, cashew, and mango while developing a deep understanding of the land.
In the 1990s, that entrepreneurial journey expanded to become Senarath Group (senerathgroup.lk), one of Sri Lanka’s respected engineering companies.
After more than 35 years of building infrastructure across the country, the family returned to its agricultural roots with a global ambition: To deliver precision engineered coco coir substrates from Sri Lanka to the world.
The Meaning Behind Axia
The name Axia reflects both our heritage and our promise
Sinhala — අක්ෂීය — Axis
“Axia” is inspired by the word “අක්ෂීය” (Aksheeya), in Sinhala, representing an axis, a central point of strength and stability.
The coconut tree is the axis of Sri Lankan life, providing food, shelter, fuel, and livelihood. Almost every part of the tree creates value. Just as the coconut tree sits at the center of Sri Lankan life, AxiaCoco aspires to sit at the center of your growing operation. That philosophy shapes how we operate today.

In Greek, Axia means value. For us, value means consistent performance, reliable supply, and a team invested in every harvest you produce.

Generations
Senarath Family Farms
The Senarath family cultivated Sri Lanka’s Coconut Triangle for generations, growing coconut, rice, pineapple, cashew, and mango that taught them the importance of a healthy root system for agricultural crops and developing a deep understanding of the land that no textbook can teach.
1990
Senarath Group
Start of the first quarry that would become the Senarath Group, one of Sri Lanka’s most respected civil engineering companies, building infrastructure across the country over 35 years.
2022
AxiaCoco Founded
Three first cousins, Lolitha, Asela, and Minuka, under the patronage of Mr. Senarath, united agricultural instinct with engineering precision to create AxiaCoco. Built on a single conviction: commercial growers deserve a substrate engineered to world-class manufacturing standards.

Global expansion
Three production facilities and a business development office in the USA. 700+ MT per month. 10+ countries served. ISO 9001:2015 and GMP certified. Every substrate precision-engineered to specification, shipped directly to your greenhouse.
